Spin Wall ClockProduct Design - Studio Dror
Client: Target 2008
The Spin clock was developed to rotate closed for compact shipping. Spining the front cross pulls the others around and fans the clock out into perfect alignment.

In order to spin one cross and have the others follow, a small plastic widget was designed. The front lip of one nests into the bask void of the next. The lip is a shorter portion of an arc than the void, so one widget rotates freely in the other and then catches the second and pulls it along in rotation. The difference in arc length corresponds to the 30 degree spread between the crosses. The widgets has a toothed edge to facilitate a press fit into the rotating cross.
